Prince Harry back at work: Got standing ovations

On Friday, April 9, came the sad news that Prince Philip had passed away. Queen Elizabeth’s (94) great love turned 99 years old, and thus just did not manage to fill the magic 100.

The funeral was held the following week, Saturday 17 April, and on that occasion Prince Harry (36) flew home to England to be present when the grandfather was sent to final rest.

For the past year, Harry and Duchess Meghan (39) have lived in Los Angeles with their son Archie (1).

Star-studded event

When the concert Vax Live was arranged to gather the world and increase the global vaccine effort, Prince Harry lined up a number of big stars such as Jennifer Lopez (51) and Selena Gomez (28).

This was his first appearance after Prince Philip was buried, writes BBC.

The concert was recorded in front of thousands of fully vaccinated people at SoFi Stadium in Los Angeles and will be broadcast on TV and YouTube next Saturday.

– Tonight we stand with millions of families across India fighting the devastating second wave. The virus respects no boundaries, and access to vaccines can not be determined by geography, said Prince Harry, who was met with standing ovations, according to NTB.

This was also his first public event in California since he and his wife moved to the United States last spring.

It was the pop star Selena Gomez who led the show, and according to NTB she must have asked for more “doses and dollars” to the world’s poorest country.

Jennifer Lopez and the rock bands Foo Fighters and AC / DC entertained the audience, and video greetings were also sent from Pope Francis and US President Joe Biden (78).

The broadcast on YouTube starts at 20:00 on Saturday night in New York, which will be a slightly less audience-friendly time in Norway: namely at 02:00 on Sunday night.

Meghan stayed home

While many were happy to see Prince Harry on Vax Live, his wife shone with her absence. As is well known, Meghan is pregnant and expecting a little girl this summer.

The Duchess was either not attending Britain’s funeral for Prince Philip. She was advised by her doctor to leave so late in the pregnancy, a spokesperson told People i april.

Prince Philips’ funeral was the first time Prince Harry and his brother Prince William (38) performed in public together since Harry and Meghan retired from royal life.

The eyes of the whole world were on the brothers, who have had a rather cool relationship in recent years, something that came out in Harry and Meghans much talked about interview with Oprah Winfrey.

The royal family was mourned in black. It was announced in advance that no one in the royal family would wear military uniforms, which is common on such occasions. The reason is that Prince Harry no longer has any military titles, and he would thus be the only one who did not pose in uniform.

The decision must have been made by the queen herself, probably to spare Prince Harry.
