Prince Harry and Meghan surprise again by announcing a new tour that is destined to be controversial

Prince Harry and Meghan Markle are currently in the middle of their summer vacation with their two children, Archie and Lilibet. However, they have found time to make an important announcement about an event they will be holding in the coming months that will make numerous headlines.

The Duke and Duchess of Sussex will board a plane to Colombia to tour the South American country. This is due to the invitation they have received from Francia Márquez, the nation’s vice president. A trip that will take place at the end of the year.

“In these vibrant locations, they will have the exceptional opportunity to interact with leaders, young people and women who embody the aspirations and voices of Colombians committed to progress. In addition to these meaningful interactions, the Duke and Duchess will experience Colombia’s rich heritage,” the politician said at the time of the announcement of the upcoming visit.

An official tour that will not only include the capital of Colombia, Bogotá, but will also include visits to various Caribbean and Pacific regions of Cartagena and Cali, as has been reported in recent hours.

Harry and Meghan had an official event in Nigeria earlier this year

And this visit will be more important than it initially seems, Francia Márquez herself revealed that it will take place just before the first World Ministerial Conference to End Violence against Children, an event that will take place in November and in which they will recognize the work of the Archewell Foundation, created by the Duke and Duchess.

While it is not known whether Harry and Meghan will decide to take their children with them, they did not do so on their first official trip earlier this year. The couple moved to Nigeria and the children stayed at their home in Montecito, California.

The Duke and Duchess of Sussex spent three days in the African region. Meghan Markle took advantage of the opportunity to experience her family’s past first-hand. Just a few years ago, she discovered through a genealogical test that she is 43% Nigerian. “Part of being African-American is not knowing much about your lineage or your background, or where you come from specifically. And it was exciting (…) to discover more and understand what that really means,” she said.

Sports, mental health and women’s leadership positions were the topics discussed during this trip. Although it is not yet known exactly what topics will be discussed at the event in Colombia, everything points to one of them being childhood, an important aspect for them.
