British Prince Harry and his American wife, Megan Markle, asked US President Joe Biden to return to the United States from Britain via Air Force One, after attending the funeral of the late British Queen Elizabeth II, last year.
But the White House immediately refused Prince Harry and his wife’s request.
The couple had invited the first lady in the United States, Jill Biden, to attend a party, but she apologized for not attending, due to fears that the British royal family would feel some kind of insult.
The price of royal family secrets
The Daily Mail said that the two steps on the part of the British prince and his wife were part of their campaign to gain political influence in the United States, after they settled in California after giving up their royal duties in 2020.
Markle has sought outreach to President Joe Biden’s administration and has publicly called on lawmakers in Congress for paid family leave.
Amid the atmosphere of the Queen of Britain’s lengthy funeral, Harry and Meghan’s office contacted the White House, asking if the couple could return to the United States via Air Force One.
And it would have been a “cool” picture of the two (Harry and Megan) as they climbed the steps of the famous plane and waved their hands alongside Biden and his wife.
But the American response was immediate, “No.”
The British newspaper quoted undisclosed sources as saying that the Americans refused any discussion about the issue.
The sources said that if something like this happened, it would lead to tension in relations between Britain and the United States.
