Prince Harry and Meghan Markle don’t want you to read too much…

Britain’s Prince Harry and Meghan Markle advise visitors to their Archewell website to take regular screen breaks. After twenty minutes, they say it’s time for a break and a pop-up window will appear to remind you.

Anyone who studies the information on Harry and Meghan’s website should stop after twenty minutes. At the request of Harry and Meghan themselves. After all, a well-intentioned warning appears on the readers’ screen. “We’re glad you’re here,” it reads. “But we take screen time into account. Why not take a break? We will be there afterwards.”

The royals slash Hollywood stars want to encourage their readers and fans with that message not to stare at a screen for too long in the interest of their health. That fits perfectly with the vision of the Center for Humane Technology, one of Archewell’s partners.

The idea is not completely out of the blue. A recent study at the University of Colorado shows that schoolchildren who frequently watch screens are more prone to concentration and sleep problems and are more likely to develop an anxiety disorder. The US government therefore advises parents to allow their children to watch a screen for a maximum of two hours a day. Prince Harry and Meghan Markle are a little stricter about it with their twenty minutes and draw the line for adults, because their eyes can also use breaks.
