Minister of Foreign Affairs (Menlu) Saudi Arabia, Prince Faisal bin Farhan, the international community said on the failure of Gaza. Prince Faisal also called for the reconstruction of the state Palestine while speaking at a world economic forum in Riyadh.
“It is clear that the situation in Gaza is a disaster in every sense – humanitarian in nature, but also a complete failure of the existing political system to overcome the crisis,” the Prince said. The special WEF meeting was held in Riyadh from Monday local time (29/4), with the issue of the war between Hamas and Israel in Gaza Strip also discussed.
In his statement, Prince Faisal stressed that only a “credible and irreversible path towards a Palestinian state” would prevent the world from facing “the same situation in the next two years , three years, four years”.
The war in the Gaza Strip has increased regional tensions. According to the latest report from the Gaza health authorities, more than 34,000 people, mostly women and children, died as a result of a series of Israeli attacks on the Gaza Strip in response to Hamas attacks last October .
Hamas attacks on Israel last year reportedly killed around 1,200 people, mostly civilians, and took more than 250 hostages in the Gaza Strip. Hamas said its attack was revenge for decades of Israeli occupation and aggression against Palestine.
Efforts to bring about a ceasefire in the Gaza Strip continue, with United States (US) Secretary of State Antony Blinken, Palestinian leaders and high-ranking officials from various countries trying to mediate between Hamas and Israel also attend the world economic forum in Riyadh.
