Prince Charles rules out Prince Andrew’s return to public office Royalty

“Long ago he concluded that this problem is unsolvable. The prince will now probably feel even more certain that a return to public life is not possible, as this accusation regularly crops up.”

American Virginia Giuffre accuses Andrew of abusing her about twenty years ago when she was a minor. The woman is only now going to court because a law in New York has expired and victims of child abuse can file a civil suit despite the expiration of the statute of limitations.

According to the source, Charles loves his brother but the case is “unwanted reputational damage” for the royal family.

The legal battle could last for several years and overshadow King Elizabeth’s 70th reign, which should be a big celebration next year. The royal family is also bracing for the publication of Prince Harry’s memoirs next fall.

Due to Giuffre’s accusations, Andrew already withdrew from public life in November 2019 and resigned from his royal functions. Most of the charitable organizations of which he was a patron have since scrapped him. He still holds various honorary positions with the British armed forces.
