The palace says in the announcement that Charles “as a lifelong music lover and champion of the arts” has been personally involved in the composition of the music program. That promises to be “diverse and accessible”, says Buckingham Palace.
The compositions were created by some of the most esteemed living artists of the classical, sacred, film, television and musical theater worlds, according to the palace. Among them are some film composers, the famous musical composer Andrew Lloyd Webber and Sir Antonio Pappano, music director of the Royal Opera House. A Coronation Orchestra has also been composed of musicians from eight leading orchestras worldwide of which Charles has been a patron.
Last Friday it was announced which artists will perform on Sunday 7 May during the festivities on the day after the coronation. Among others, Take That, Katy Perry, Lionel Richie and Andrea Bocelli will be present.
