Prince Charles funded Harry and Meghan until the summer of 2020

“My family has literally cut me off financially,” Prince Harry claimed in the infamous interview with Oprah Winfrey in March 2021.

New information from the British Royal Family now reveals that Harry received financial support from the family anyway.

It writes The Guardian.

This information comes at the same time as Buckingham Palace admits that they want to do more when it comes to diversity among employees. Figures show that people with an ethnic minority background make up only 8.5 per cent of the staff.

Stunning sum

According to a spokesperson, Harry and Meghan announced in January 2020 that they would work to become financially independent. Prince Charles then contributed a “significant sum” to support them with this transition.

Account information The Guardian shows and reveals that Charles supported his sons and wives by covering costs of a staggering 53.3 million kroner.

No longer supported

– The Prince of Wales allocated a significant sum to support them with this transition. Last year this summer, the financing was stopped, and the couple is now financially independent, according to a spokesperson.

Harry and Meghan are no longer funded by Charles, but the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge still do.

Accused the royal family

Three months after the Duke and Duchess of Sussex accused the royal family of racism in their controversial interview with Winfrey, the Queen’s annual accounts were published for the first time.

The accounts also reveal that Harry and Meghan have repaid NOK 28.4 million, for the state’s costs to refurbish their home Frogmore Cottage, near Windsor Castle. The sum also covers the rent to keep it as its British home until March 2022.

A source at the castle has previously emphasized that changes in the diversity strategy were implemented in early 2020, before the Winfrey interview in March this year. By voluntarily publishing the diversity data, the British Royal Family wanted to be open about the attempts at improvement.
