The King believes the property could be repurposed, but Andrew, who has taken over the house on a long-term lease and has spent up to £7m of his own fortune on renovations, refuses to budge.
Sources say it would make sense for the prince to temporarily move into nearby Frogmore Cabin, the former home of Prince Harry and Meghan Markle.
But the source also claims that Andrew fears that he may be evicted permanently if he leaves the property, albeit temporarily: “Andrew has roof repairs scheduled for the end of this summer and will take several months to complete, and he was told that staying at home during these repairs could be a problem. But he himself does not want to go.”
Buckingham Palace declined to comment on the matter, but another source insisted that the Duke of York did not need to be moved.
