Prince Andrew is prohibited from wearing a military uniform during the queen’s mourning

King Charles III began his day in London by visiting the Hall of Parliament in the Palace of Westminster, where he met with both the House of Commons and the House of Lords to express their condolences, and Charles delivered his first King’s speech in the presence of the his wife, the queen consort.

King Charles, accompanied by Queen consort Camilla, will fly to Edinburgh, where he will walk around 3:25 local time in a procession behind the Queen’s coffin from the Palace of Holyroodhouse in Edinburgh to St Giles’ Cathedral.

Members of the public will be able to watch the procession as it moves along the Royal Mile.

A prayer service will be held to celebrate the Queen’s life at 4pm and 5pm, and the public will be able to see the coffin, which will remain in the cathedral for 24 hours.

Officials say a queuing system will be in place, with more details to be announced soon.

The king will also travel to Holyrood House, where he will meet the Prime Minister of Scotland, Nicholas Sturgeon. He and the queen consort will then attend the Scottish Parliament, where members will present letters of condolence.

In the evening, King Charles will hold a funeral service with other members of the royal family at St Giles’ Cathedral, where the queen rests.

The Queen’s coffin will be flown from St Giles’ Cathedral to Edinburgh Airport on Tuesday, and then on a plane to London with her daughter, Princess Anne.

The coffin is expected to arrive in London shortly before 7pm, and then travel to Buckingham Palace, where it will be greeted by the king and Camilla.

And while the route, from St Giles’ Cathedral to Edinburgh Airport, has yet to be announced, the public will be able to watch the procession.
