Princess Charlene (43) of Monaco has been “trapped” in her home country South Africa for a full four months due to an infection in the ear, nose and throat region that prevents her from flying back to her family.
In June, the Prince’s Palace announced that she had undergone surgery as a result of the infection. On Friday last week, she had to undergo a new, four-hour complicated operation.

The princess’s visit to South Africa began in early May and was planned to last for ten, small days. Shortly after arrival, however, she had to seek medical attention after had problems with the ears.
Prior to the trip, Charlene had undergone surgery in the oral region, and the doctors were finally able to establish that there had been an infection in the surgical wound – which in turn had led to her contracting a serious form of sinusitis.
Now Prince Albert is speaking about his wife’s condition after Friday’s operation, which was performed under general anesthesia.
