Charlène has been in South Africa since May and was unable to go home because she had to undergo multiple surgeries due to a throat, nose and ear infection – which she contracted shortly after arrival. Her last surgery was earlier this month. “She is doing much better. Her last operation, on her nasal septum, went very well,” Albert told the French magazine ‘Point De Vue’ on Tuesday.

The prince expects his wife to return “very soon”. “I can say that she will be back in Monaco well before the national holiday. I can’t give an exact date, but I promise you will know when the time comes.”

Prince Albert is now providing an update on the situation for the second time within a few weeks. “She’s doing better now,” he responded at the beginning of this month to Charlène’s continued absence. “She has not had an easy period, because she was confronted with several problems at the same time. But soon she will join us again.” Prince Albert and their two children Jacques and Gabriella have visited the princess twice since May in the African country.
