It is a visit to which they particularly valued. While in New York the 33rd Meeting of States Parties to the United Nations Convention on the Law of the Sea between June 12 and 16, Princess Stéphanie of Monaco and her brother the reigning Prince Albert II, known for his attachment and his defense of the maritime causewent there toattend and participate in debates.
A visit during which they were able to go Meet the United Nations Secretary GeneralAntonio Guterres, before discussing with other country representatives on the 2022 report of the International Tribunal for the Law of the Sea and make several decisions togetherin particular on the Commission’s budget or on the upcoming elections concerning the members of this Commission.
While Prince Albert was not not returned to New York since November 2022 in the company of Princess Charlene at that time, he was to for this trip also be accompanied by his wife and children, Jacques and Gabriella. A journey which, it seems, unfortunately couldn’t be done in the endthe prince having been accompanied only by his sister for this diplomatic visit.

Albert of Monaco: his fight for the protection of the oceans
On several occasions, Prince Albert and the whole of the princely family of the Rock have committed to the maritime cause. Last February, the family body around the actor Jean Dujardin in particular to defend the documentary “Guardians of the Planet”centered on the place of whales and cetaceans in the ocean and in which the actor lends his voice.
For this engagement, the prince was also rewarded in the past. In May 2022, he received a prize in Sweden from the Perfect World Foundation, for salute its commitment to protecting the ocean.
