As every year, Prince Albert II chaired the ceremony of the Princess Grace Awards, grants to support young talents, in the presence of his eldest daughter, Jazmin Grace Grimaldi. This year, the Crown Prince and his daughter stood with Michael Douglas, who received an honorary award.

October 23, 2024, Princess Grace Foundation-USA (PGFUSA) presented their annual awards at a gala evening held at the elegant hotel The Pierre, on Manhattan’s Upper East Side. The awards are grants distributed to young American talents in the fields of cinema, theater and dance. The purpose of the scholarships is to continue the work of supporting artists, as Princess Grace did. In 1982, a few weeks after the death of his wife, Prince Rainier III created a foundation in the name of the princess, with the aim of continuing the actress’ commitment to the world of arts.

Michael Douglas honored at the 40th edition of the Princess Grace Awards
This annual event celebrated its 40th edition this past Wednesday. Prince Albert II of Monaco, 66, did not miss this great annual meeting. This evening is always an opportunity to meet again with his eldest daughter, Jazmin Grace Grimaldi, 32 years old. In 2022, it was Princess Charlene who was separate with her husband. This edition marked the 40th anniversary of Princess Grace’s disappearance.

During the 40th edition of the ceremony, the Princess Grace Statue Award was brought back. This prize, which is no longer distributed, comes with a financial prize of $25,000. The lucky recipients of this statue are Branden Jacobs-Jenkins and Lila Neugebauer, screenwriter and theater director. The other prizes are worth $10,000, divided into different categories. This year, 18 people received an award and 11 honorary awards were also presented.

During the evening, Prince Albert II also presented the Prince Rainier III Award, an award established in 2005. This is an honorary award given to an individual throughout their career. This year, the Oscar-winning American actor Michael Douglas received this award from Prince Albert II. Michael Douglas, along with his sons Cameron and Dylan, received an award for his artistic career and his charitable commitment. In 2019, Michael Douglas had already achieved fame in Monaco, when he received the Crystal Nymph from the hands of the princely couple, as part of the Monte-Carlo Television Festival.

Jazmin Grace Grimaldi makes her return to the red carpet, with her father. Relatively hidden for many years, Jazmin continues to change the American art scene with her musical partner, Ian Mellencamp. The half-sister of Hereditary Prince Jacques and Princess Gabriella studied performing arts.
