In the 36-kilometer time trial to La Planche des Belles Filles, Primoz Roglic had a real off-day. The Slovenian from Jumbo-Visma started the race against time with a lead of 57 seconds, but that turned out to be far from enough. Tadej Pocagar eventually drove his fellow countryman to 1’56 ”. Afterwards Roglic was short of substance. “Of course it is not nice if you have to hear that you are being driven behind.”

“Today I didn’t have the strength to kick hard enough,” Primoz Roglic told the cameras afterwards. “Of course I still gave everything I had in me and this is ultimately the result. My separate helmet? It was something new, I was using it for the first time. Let’s just say it wasn’t the right time to test this out. ”
In the meantime, Roglic was further behind by Pogacar, before crossing the line 1’56 ”behind Pogacar. “I got the split times, but I couldn’t do much. Of course it is no fun if you have to hear that you are being driven behind. You want to hear that you are doing well. ” And Roglic was gone, on what is undoubtedly not the most enjoyable day of his cycling career.
