Prime Video will add a feature to its platform next year. In addition to films for sale or rental, it will be possible for publishers to do the same thing for series.
During its 2024 back-to-school presentation, Prime Video notably showed future content coming to the platform, both new releases and sequels. But Amazon’s SVOD service also made another announcement that could perhaps confuse customers even more.
Quickly suggest films
On Prime Video, films included on the platform are mixed with films on video on demand that you have to pay for if you want to watch them. Enough to offer content four months after their theatrical release compared to 17 months for films which are made available in the basic subscription.

This mix can be a little confusing for someone who doesn’t know the platform well and who finds themselves faced with a payment request when they already pay for a Prime Video subscription.
Competition series on Prime Video
And Prime Video has decided to do the same system for series. It will thus be possible to buy or rent them shortly, Amazon has not yet revealed the exact deployment schedule.
It should be possible to find series that are not on Prime Video through this method and that are reserved for other platforms. Enough to display the same series as the competition, except for one small subtlety.
