Prime Video started the month of January with a bang to start the new year in the best conditions. This new week is clearly a little calmer, but there are still some nice additions.
Like every week that begins, it’s time to take stock with you of the new features coming to the Amazon Prime Video streaming service. Just like Netflix, this giant wanted to hit hard during the first two weeks of January, leaving the rest a little calmer, but not without interest. In particular, we find a fantastic film made by a renowned director which caused a sensation when it was released. Something to satisfy fans of the seventh art.
Prime Video films from January 22 to 28, 2024 (S4)
Last week on Prime Video was rather pleasant, notably with One Piece Red and Elysium. This time we have the chance to enjoy a very special fantasy film, since it is Three Thousand Years Waiting for You, directed by George Miller, the famous Australian director known for Mad Max. This film stars Tilda Swinton and Idris Elba in the lead roles. The story focuses on Alithea Binnie (played by Tilda Swinton), a British scholar who, during a trip to Istanbul, discovers an ancient bottle containing a Djinn (played by Idris Elba). This Djinn offers Alithea three wishes in exchange for her freedom. However, aware of the myths and tales where wishes end badly, Alithea is reluctant to make her own… This is understandable.
Next, let’s move on to the thriller with Trunk. The film tells the story of Malina, a 28-year-old medical student, who wakes up disoriented in the locked trunk of a moving car, with no memory of how she got there. His only connection to the outside world is his cell phone, whose battery is quickly draining. Malina embarks on a desperate fight for survival as the car heads towards a terrible secret. A most distressing film.
Let’s finish with a French film, Number 10, directed by David Diane. The film tells the story of Ousmane Diallo, a 20-year-old footballer on the verge of becoming a world star. Having never played for a national team due to his late blooming, Ousmane is faced with a crucial choice: represent France, the country where he was born and raised, or choose Senegal, the homeland of his father, Hamidou , who also manages his career in an authoritarian manner. Very interesting for football fans.

Prime Video series from January 22 to 288, 2024 (S4)
Only one new series is arriving on Amazon Prime Video this week, it is Expats. The series is directed by Nicole Kidman, who also plays one of the main roles. The story is set in Hong Kong in 2014 and focuses on three American women: Margaret (played by Nicole Kidman), Hilary (played by Sarayu Blue) and Mercy (played by Ji-young Yoo), whose lives intersect at the aftermath of a sudden family tragedy. Apparently, the series places a strong emphasis on human relationships. And seeing Kidman on screen is always a pleasure.
