MINNEAPOLIS (VG) During a meeting with the senator in Minnesota, USA, Prime Minister Jonas Gahr Støre was interrupted by activists from Climate Defiance.

They demanded that Norway commit to cutting all exploration for new fossil fuels and to zero emissions.
The activists were removed from the hall, but afterwards Støre went out and met them in the street, because he thought the discussion itself was important.
– You have good arguments, and phasing down the use of fossil fuels is important, but I cannot promise a total cut, because it will actually delay the transition to green energy, said Støre.
– I respect that he came out and talked to us, but I am disappointed that Norway will not commit to cutting production and stopping oil and gas exploration, says activist Jessy Benjamin (28), to VG.
Støre tells VG that he understands that the activists are in despair, but believes that they should rather participate in the discussion in the hall, than interrupt.
– It was more like a demonstration than an exchange of views, but we understand their concern.
