For the first time since April, the number of reported corona infections has exceeded the signal value of 7 infections per 100,000 inhabitants. The number of diagnosed corona infections today increased by 1270. That equates to 7.3 people tested positive for every 100,000 inhabitants.
“The figures are too high,” said Prime Minister Rutte during his weekly press conference. “This includes the legitimate question: what is going on and what is needed?”
Intensive contact with regions
In recent days, according to the prime minister, there has been intensive contact with the regions of Amsterdam, The Hague and Rotterdam, where there are relatively many infections. In those regions, the number of infections is relatively higher than in the rest of the country.

Agreements have also been made. “Enforcement of the emergency ordinance is becoming tougher and we will enforce more firmly in places where there are relatively many infections,” said the prime minister about the talks with those regions.
Conversations between students and migrants
Many things have also been set in motion nationally. For example, discussions with student organizations and migrant associations are becoming more intensive. : “We talk to migrant clubs to see how we can offer help to better reach their supporters”, said Rutte.
An information campaign will start next week to better reach young people and to make them aware of the corona rules. “We want to send a clear and honest message,” said Rutte. Relatively many infections also occur among young people.

Priority testing
The testing capacity is and remains a headache file. That is why there has been an urgent wish from the House of Representatives for some time to give priority to certain groups. The planned priority for certain professional groups in testing will become possible in the course of next week, according to Prime Minister Rutte. “But it is a complex organization.”
Which groups these will be and how this will be arranged, Minister Hugo de Jonge will probably announce later tonight.
