Prime Minister Rutte in exclusive Christmas interview: ‘King back in formation’ | Inland

The current formation is the longest ever. Rutte: “What I don’t think has helped is that the king has been removed. Not that it suddenly takes three months less if you bring it back, but it would help.”

In 2012, it was decided to no longer give the head of state a central role, but the House of Representatives. Parties such as D66, PVV and PvdA thought that this would bring more transparency. Rutte further acknowledges that he has made mistakes, but the Netherlands will soon not see a completely different prime minister. “Like some kind of snake shedding your skin, I don’t believe in that at all.”
