Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh to Address WEF 2024 and Strengthen Relations with Hungary and Romania

Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh’s upcoming participation in the annual meeting of the World Economic Forum (WEF) in Davos has important significance in various respects, said Deputy Foreign Minister Nguyen Minh Hang in an interview with the press on the meaning and importance of this business trip by the Prime Minister.

The 54th WEF Annual Meeting, to be held January 15-19 in Switzerland, will be the largest of its kind since the COVID-19 pandemic. Nearly 100 senior leaders from countries and international organizations, and around 3,000 leaders of global groups and companies will attend. This is the highest number ever recorded.

Firstly, the meeting is a valuable opportunity to grasp the world’s thoughts, ideas, development models, governance models and development trends, timely take advantage of new opportunities and trends, and respond effectively to the challenges posed and attracting maximum resources to serve the socio-economic development of the country.

The meeting is also an opportunity for Vietnam to increase exchanges and promote cooperation with Switzerland and its international partners and organizations, deepening relations in many areas, including economy, trade and investment. .

Vietnam’s contributions to the forum

The Vietnamese leader is expected to attend and speak at important discussion sessions, including the special sessions dedicated to Vietnam. He will chair numerous exchanges of views with leaders of large companies and meet leaders of countries, international organizations and businesses.

First, Pham Minh Chinh will share Vietnam’s assessments, comments and views on the prospects, opportunities and challenges as well as adjustment trends of the global economy. It will propose immediate and long-term solutions to strengthen international solidarity, restore trust and promote cooperation between countries, between governments, businesses and partners to share a common responsibility.

Deepen relationships

with Hungary and Romania

Regarding Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh’s official visits to Hungary and Romania from January 18 to 23, 2024, Nguyen Minh Hang also considered them extremely important with the aim of continuing to consistently implement the foreign policy of independence and autonomy, multilateralization and diversification of Vietnam’s external relations, while continuing to promote and deepen relations with traditional partners and friends.

As part of these visits, the Vietnamese leader will hold talks, meetings, contacts and working sessions with senior leaders from Hungary and Romania, and will visit localities, universities and research and business centers , will meet members of the Vietnam-Hungary-Romania Friendship Association and the Vietnamese community living and working in the two countries.

The visit of the Vietnamese head of government will contribute to further increasing political trust, strengthening traditional friendship and active mutual support between Vietnam, Hungary and Romania; to promote and bring traditional areas of cooperation such as economy, trade, labor, culture, education, human resources training… to a new height to meet the development requirements of each country ; to accelerate cooperation in potential and strong areas such as science and technology, information and communication, pharmacy, innovation, etc.

In addition, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh’s visit will also be a good opportunity for Vietnam to promote cooperation with Hungary and Romania to link relations between Vietnam and the Central and Eastern European region, as well as between the two countries and ASEAN, and to coordinate closely in resolving global issues in order to contribute to peace, stability, cooperation and development in the region and the world, the minister concluded.
