Prime Minister of Japan intends to visit Ukraine

Japanese Prime Minister Fumio Kishida may visit Ukraine for talks with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky if all security measures can be observed.

“At the moment, nothing has been decided, but we will consider all options whether it is possible to visit Ukraine depending on various circumstances,” Kishida said at a parliament meeting after an MP from the ruling party urged the prime minister to follow the example of leaders of other countries who have already visited in Kyiv.

The leaders of Britain, Canada, France, Germany and Italy have already visited Ukraine since the beginning of the war. Last December, US President Joe Biden also met with Zelensky in Washington.

Kishida was eager to visit Ukraine as chairman of the upcoming G7 summit, but a Japanese government spokesman said it was still difficult to organize his visit for security reasons.
