New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi congratulated Manipur on the anniversary of the formation of the state. The Prime Minister noted on the X Platform that Manipur has made great contributions to the progress of India. The Prime Minister also wished the northeastern states of Tripura and Meghalaya on their formation day.

The annual celebrations also took place during the ethnic riots between the Kuki-Meitei sects in Manipur. The Prime Minister has not yet visited Manipur since the insurgency started last year.
