Rødt’s statement that Jens Stoltenberg is a war criminal is a serious expression that Rødt is on the wrong track, says Prime Minister Jonas Gahr Støre (Ap).
– They get to see themselves in the mirror, how it makes them look. It is a rough term to use against a person, and they must be able to justify it, says Støre to TV 2.
Group leader Siavash Mobasheri in Rødt Oslo called Stoltenberg a war criminal in a speech to Rødt’s national meeting on Saturday. Støre reacts in particular to the fact that party leader Bjørnar Moxnes supported the move afterwards.
– That term does not belong anywhere, and I strongly distance myself from it. That it comes from the pulpit is one thing, but when the party leader vouches for it, I believe that it is a serious expression that Rødt is on the wrong track, and I strongly distance myself from that, says Støre.
When asked whether it will make it more difficult for the Labor Party to cooperate with Rødt, Støre says that it will depend on each case:
– It tells a bit about their dealings with both truth and very serious relationships, in a way that I distance myself from. We have to deal with cooperation on a case-by-case basis, but people have to think for themselves.
