The government has indeed started receiving 50 million doses of Pfizer Vaccine in August 2021. Delivery will be carried out in stages and used in the national vaccination program to prevent the spread of Covid-19.

However, the delivery of vaccines from the US to Indonesia is not carried out at once as much as 50 million, but in stages according to a predetermined schedule.

Previously, the Food and Drug Administration (BPOM) issued an emergency use permit (EUA) for the Pfizer brand of Covid-19 vaccine on July 15. With the granting of this permit, a total of five vaccines have received the green light, namely Sinovac, AstraZeneca, Sinopharm, Moderna, and Pfizer.

Head of BPOM Penny K. Lukito said the efficacy of the Covid-19 vaccine reached 100% for the 12 to 15 year age group. While the efficacy for ages 16 years and over reached 95.5%.

In comparison, Pfizer’s vaccine efficacy is also the highest compared to the four previously circulated vaccines. The Sinovac vaccine had 65.3% efficacy, AstraZeneca 62.1%, Sinopharm 78%, and Moderna 94.1%.

Penny said this vaccine can be used at the age of 12 years and the dose used is 0.3 milliliters in a span of three weeks. A review of the Pfizer vaccine has been carried out by the Expert Team of the National Vaccine Assessment Committee and the Indonesian Technical Advisory Group on Immunization (ITAGI).
