Prime Minister Denkov Optimistic for Better Christmas and Economic Growth in Bulgaria

At the moment there is no problem with everything that has been agreed for the rotation. We work well with Maria Gabriel and we will continue to work as before, Prime Minister Nikolay Denkov told bTV.

When asked if he would become a minister in Maria Gabriel’s cabinet, Denkov said: “probably, yes.” Part of the proposal is to become deputy prime minister, returning to the Ministry of Education and Science. That is the place where I feel close to the professional community and where I would be most useful, stressed the Prime Minister.

Denkov added that over the past two years, people have become encouraged that someone is listening to them. People saw hope that they had someone to tell something to and that someone would pay attention, he noted. And he warned that Bulgaria still has a big problem with corruption.

Denkov believes that theis welcome a better Christmas than the previous one.

Incomes have risen more than the latest inflation, the Prime Minister pointed out.

What is most important for people with low incomes is what happens to food prices, separately – the price of electricity for household consumers has not changed, Nikolay Denkov reported.

The state budget should be aimed at these people, which are the most difficult. The 2024 budget will not be spent, but the funds will be directed to those people who have been left behind over the years, assured Denkov. He added that the other thing the government can do is try to attract more investors to the country. The Prime Minister is sure that 2024 will be even better for Bulgaria.

He also commented on the price of fuel in our country. Bulgaria is an open market, as the country imports and exports fuels to neighboring countries. All along, the government’s struggle is not to abruptly remove the Lukoil exemption. If we depend only on fuel imports, which should be provided in the next few days, the price of fuels would jump a lot. However, Denkov is optimistic that there will be no such jump.

On the subject of the dismantling of the Monument to the Soviet Army, the prime minister said that society is divided because of Russia’s war in Ukraine, not because of the monument. The monument is only a symbol of division, he pointed out.
