We have very big systemic problems with prevention, I want to work on it. This is what Prime Minister Nikolay Denkov said in the “Wake Up” studio on the occasion of the flooding along the Southern Black Sea coast.
According to him, after the disaster, the state reacted quickly and in the best possible way.
The Prime Minister assured that by the end of September, compensation should be paid to households affected by the floods.
Denkov commented on whether there will be an increase in pensions from 2024. He pointed out that the political consensus is around the so-called Swiss rule and the increase will be tied to the economic indicators in our country. There is an ongoing discussion about raising the minimum wage. She will also be tied to the money for the second year of maternity.
“We will introduce a budget that balances the imbalances as much as possible”, the Prime Minister also said. Denkov stated that he sees no reason for the reduced VAT rate for restaurateurs to remain in force. According to him, the number of tourists in our country is large and there is no reason for the 9 percent tax to continue operating.
The comment also came about a shot that captured how he and President Rumen Radev were talking in the stands of the “Match of Hope”. Denkov admitted that the conversation was about “the problems we have to solve together.”
“When talking about shootings, I want to say that this is not correct. For a very long time there were volleys only from one side to the other. I hope this period is over and we can talk, because we have something to do together”, the Prime Minister added.
According to him, a demand for the impeachment of Rumen Radev would take an unnecessary amount of public energy, but he emphasized that the head of state has repeatedly gone beyond the powers given to him by the Constitution. “He has given reasons for this, but I still think that such a decision would rather hinder at the moment,” added Denkov.
The Prime Minister also explained when the ruling majority can call itself a “coalition”.
This would happen once trust is built between them that they can work effectively together.
“By the end of the year, this can happen. If we pass the laws that are in the National Assembly, if we manage to change the Constitution the way it was intended, I could say there is credibility. The formal way is to have a signed document”, he pointed out.
In his words, “DPS must play a role in the adoption of constitutional changes”.
The Prime Minister cannot guarantee that Bulgaria will be admitted to Schengen by October. The hope is that this will happen in December at the latest.
