(PLO)- The Prime Minister decided to approve the adjustment of the general planning on construction of Van Phong economic zone, Khanh Hoa province until 2040, with a vision to 2050.
On the evening of March 27, a PLO source said that Deputy Prime Minister Tran Hong Ha has just signed a decision approving the adjustment of the construction planning of Van Phong economic zone to 2040, with a vision to 2050.

Accordingly, Van Phong EZ has an area of 150,000 ha in Van Ninh district and Ninh Hoa town. In which, the water surface area is about 74,300 ha, the land area is 70,800 ha, the sea edge is the lowest average for many years, and the sea encroachment is nearly 4,900 ha.
Land for construction of functional areas is about 31,900 ha, accounting for more than 42% of the EZ’s natural land area, including 11,825 ha of construction land for urban areas – residential areas.
Van Phong EZ will plan 19 functional subdivisions. North Van Phong area has 13 subdivisions for development of eco-tourism – resort, high-class golf course, commercial and financial center, international seaport center, logistics industry along with urban areas and amusement parks. entertainment, casino…
This is also the area to build a civil airport, develop sea and island tourism services, urban utility activities such as finance, banking, organize seminars, tourism combined with marine urban elements, community tourism, industry…
Nam Van Phong area has six functional subdivisions, which are planned including gateway area, urban residential area, industrial parks, general port industry. This is also the place where specialized ports and logistics warehouses serve industrial parks.

Regarding transport infrastructure, Van Phong EZ will plan and invest in building a civil airport in Van Thang commune with a scale of 500-550 ha. The seaport will consist of two zones.
Bac Van Phong wharf area will be an international transshipment port, with a container berth to receive 250,000-ton container ships, and an international passenger port to receive ships up to 225,000 GT.
Nam Van Phong wharf area directly serves Van Phong EZ and forwards liquid/gas cargo. There are general and specialized berths to receive ships from 100,000 to 300,000 tons.
Road traffic was also built new main axes facing the sea, invested in the complete construction of North-South expressways (Nha Trang – Van Phong section) and Khanh Hoa – Buon Ma Thuot route. At the same time, repair, renovate and upgrade National Highway 26B to synchronously connect Khanh Hoa – Buon Ma Thuot highway.
On March 27, Van Phong Economic Zone Project Management Board inaugurated and put into use the road from National Highway 1 to Dam Mon, Bac Van Phong in Van Ninh district. The road is 14.3 km long, with a total investment of about 1,000 billion VND.
