Prime Minister Chung said, “There is an analysis result that says that if the prevalence in the community is not serious and only the quarantine rules are followed, schools are unlikely to be the main cause of the spread of infection,” he said. “This year should be a little different.” In addition, he said, “To prepare for situations in which remote classes are inevitable, we hope that the expansion of communication between teachers and students and expansion of infrastructure should be promoted without a hitch so as to increase the quality of classes and close the gap.”

Earlier, Commissioner Jeong Eun-kyung said in a paper released on December 27 last year with the research team of the Department of Social Medicine, Hallym University Medical School, that “only about 2% of children and adolescents with corona 19 confirmed through school were infected.” According to the paper, the total number of confirmed cases in Korea during the study period was 13,417, of which the proportion of confirmed patients aged 0-19 was 7.2%. There was no difference before and after school closure. In the UK and France, there are many cases where the right of education for students is given priority over school closure.

It was the first weekend after the quarantine standards were adjusted. Prime Minister Chung said, “There is a limit on the number of participants this weekend, but regular worship services, court meetings, and Mass will be resumed in earnest,” he said.
