‘Primary suspect in Gelderland fruit trade attacks acted from a cell’

Of newspaper writes that G. was arrested again in his cell at the end of last year, after he allegedly offered his cellmate 7,000 euros to commit a new attack on the fruit trade. He is said to have already planned five new attacks during his imprisonment.

2.5 million euros in bitcoins

The case started in 2019 with the discovery of 400 kilos of cocaine in a transport at the fruit trade in Hedel, Gelderland. The company reported the find to the police. After that, the suspected drug traffickers demanded 2.5 million euros in bitcoins from the fruit company. At the same time, employees were bombarded with threats. A series of attacks with explosives were also committed on the homes of employees.

Justice sees G. as the evil genius in the case, which has been holding the Bommelerwaard in its grip for years. Lists have been found of employees of the fruit company, on which the fingerprints and notes of the suspect were found.


The sentence against G. will be announced at the end of this month. The court in Arnhem has set aside several days for the substantive hearing of his case.

Co-defendants convicted

G. was previously imprisoned in De Schie in Rotterdam and in prison in Leeuwarden. Now the man from Naarden, after ‘indications of continued criminal activity’, is detained in an even stricter regime.

Previously, main suspect Yassine A. (21) from Hilversum was sentenced to ten years in prison. Yassine A. is a half brother of Ali G. Six co-defendants who carried out the attacks were given sentences of up to eight years.
