Primary school in France – HAL-SHS

Take up again : This report, commissioned by the Higher Education Council (HCE), sheds light on strengths or problems or possible levers for promoting school success for children.
The report consists of five parts:
The first is dedicated to taking into account the needs of young children in kindergarten.
The second part deals with some learning in elementary school: oral, written and children’s culture.
Assessment and its use in kindergarten and elementary school is the topic of the third part.
In a fourth part, the effects of some educational devices on the development of pupils’ skills are examined: work in small groups, multiple speakers in class, repetition of a year.
The fifth part is dedicated to preparing for university and dealing with scholastic difficulties in primary school.
The conclusion summarizes some elements of the different parts and opens to other more general proposals which deserve to be tested and evaluated in France.
