The Irish giant of the ‘low cost’ continues to grow in Spain. Primark it has just announced a plan to open seven new stores in Spain to reach 60 stores in the country over the next year. The chain launches this offensive to take advantage of a market context that will be highly influenced by the price factor throughout this year, due to the economic crisis generated by the pandemic.
The new openings will be in Cádiz, Girona, San Sebastián and Madrid, to reach a total of 57 stores in Spain, to which three other establishments will be added before the end of the year that had already been announced in Bilbao, Vigo and Marbella.
The Cádiz store will be located in the Bahía Sur shopping center (San Fernando) and will add more than 3,000 m2 of commercial space. It will open later this year. In Girona, Primark will have more than 3,700 m2 distributed over two floors and will be located in the Espai Girones Shopping Center.
Primark has also chosen a shopping center, the Garbera, to grow in San Sebastián where the chain will have 3,900 m2 distributed over two floors. The opening in Madrid will instead be a new ‘flagship’ at street level, the ninth in the region, and it will be located on the street Conde de Peñalver, in the Salamanca Cinema building.
Both this store and the one in San Sebastián will open at the end of 2022. For its part, the group, as it had already announced, maintains plans to open a store in Bilbao, Vigo and Marbella throughout 2021.
