Primark changes its mind and will not fire anyone in the Netherlands | NOW

Primark is not going to lay off any staff during its restructuring in the Netherlands. That says David Swann Lassche, CEO of the Dutch branch of Primark, Friday. Previously, the clothing chain wanted about 240 people discharge† That plan led to a demonstration by the FNV trade union last weekend at the store in the center of Amsterdam.

In March, FNV received reports from Primark employees about the imminent round of layoffs. In addition to store personnel, managers of the stores would also have to leave.

In response to this, the union handed over a petition to the management in April, signed by about 160 employees. On Saturday, about twenty employees protested in front of the Primark in the center of Amsterdam.

“We have had many conversations in recent months,” Swann Lassche said on Friday. “We noticed from the reactions of our colleagues that they felt that we had not yet listened well enough. That is why we entered into a new dialogue with them and further improved the social plan.”

According to Primark, the unions will respond to the revised plan early next week.
