The head of the paramilitary group recorded a message to the New York Times from downtown Bakhmut
The founder of PMC “Wagner” Yevgeny Prigozhin visited Bakhmut (formerly Artemovsk), where he held a meeting with the commanders of the “orchestra”.
Against the background of a tank-monument that stands almost in the center of the city, he recorded a video address to the American edition of the New York Times. The St. Petersburg businessman reacted to the information of General Sergey Cherevatov, who said that Bakhmut is the last frontier for “musicians”.
According to him, there are several options for the development of events: “What will happen after the capture of Bakhmut? Defense Minister Sergei Shoigu told you that after the capture of Bakhmut we will have operational space.
And at the moment, the world has not yet met a well-trained Russian army. With those units that have not yet entered the battle, having all possible modern weapons, reconnaissance equipment. Perfectly prepared, they are waiting right now.
Exactly the same operational space was opened for PMC “Wagner” after Bakhmut. But that’s another story. Then the whole world will tingle,” Yevgeny Prigozhin was quoted as saying by foreign media.
The head of the “musicians” noted that the release of Bakhmut will inspire millions of Russians who will become members of the “operation” in the name of justice. He did not rule out that the ranks of PMC “Wagner” will be significantly replenished thanks to this.
“There is also a second scenario. You are for democracy and we are for justice. There are 140 million people in Russia, half of whom are for justice. Therefore, if 70 million people who are for justice suddenly come and say they want to join PMC Wagner, then you get 70 million PMC Wagner. And that’s also pleasing. Therefore, the options may be different,” he said.
Seizing the opportunity, the founder of PMC “Wagner” once again addressed the President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky. He asked to send normal combat units to Bakhmut, not old men and children.
“I am grateful that you have decided to continue working at Bakhmut. We are happy, we are already used to each other and, as they say, we have grown up. The only request: get the old people, the children, and send normal combat units here. Just please be honest.
We are with you honestly, frankly, and you are with us in the same way. 67,580 people from Zaporozhye, 21,000 from Liman – I am asking them all to be here and we will continue to work with them here, ”he stressed.
