It’s official ! The month of summer is especially the Pride March 2023. Last year, the demonstrators, made up of LGBTQIA + people and allies (heterosexuals supporting the community and fighting homophobia), had found themselves in numbers in 77 cities . At the dawn of Pride month, participants and spectators are preparing for new events that are as colourful, joyful and full of hope as ever. Dates and programs by city, it’s here.
Here are the dates and programs by city for the Pride march
Disclaimer for those who are not customary: no, Pride is not just one day in France. Usually celebrated during the month of June, it can start a few days or weeks in advance in some cities. This is particularly the case of Papeete in French Polynesia which celebrated it on February 15. Angers, Orléans and Poitiers paraded on May 13. Others have also already gathered such as Reims, Lille, Nancy, Saint-Denis or even La Rochelle. For those to come, Save The Dates !
Pride march in Paris
It is the most awaited march in France… We are obviously talking about Paris with its excess, its impressive and colorful floats as well as its massive participants. It will take place on Saturday June 24 from 1:30 p.m. The demonstrators will meet at the Michel Bizot metro in the 12th district to begin a march that will end at Place de la République. Last year, no less than 700,000 participants came together. Unfortunately, for this new edition there will be no tanks! Yes, it’s unlikely… but there is a good reason behind that: Inter-LGBT (the main organizer) wants a “more eco-responsible approach” by decarbonizing the Pride March. A novelty which, despite its beautiful message, does not seem to please everyone. On social networks, Internet users are indignant.
Don’t panic, the capital is celebrating the LGBTQIA+ community for two weeks, from June 10 to 25. During this time, many more events will be planned. Merchants in the Marais district will organize parties, after-parties, drag queen shows, shows and many other festivities.
The Pride of Marseilles
France’s second largest city, Marseille, will host Pride on 1isisnext july. For those who wish to go there, the collectives give you an appointment at 2 p.m. at the Porte d’Aix. This 2023 Pride March will be an anniversary edition for the city which has been celebrating Pride in its streets for 30 years.
The city of Lyon also mobilized
The city of gones, Lyon will demonstrate on June 10 from the Manufacture des tabacs at 2 p.m. to finally reach the Tête d’Or park. His code of conduct ? “Minorities in danger, communities mobilized, it is for our lives that we must fight”. To continue celebrating, the Livestation restaurant/bar invites you to meet up from 5 p.m. to 1 a.m. for an after party, while the Fabuleuse Cantine awaits you at 7 p.m. for a “drag” evening.
Toulouse for equality
The Pink City will walk in heart for Pride 2023 on June 10 as well. Collectives and participants will meet at 2:30 p.m. on the Place du Capitole next to the giant rainbow flag erected for the occasion. Throughout the march, we can hear the slogan “Free to love in all equality“ while observing the 26 floats in the rue Alsace-Lorraine.
And in the rest of France?
The big cities are not the only ones to come together to celebrate Pride, quite the contrary.
