Sharjah, September 11 / WAM / The wife of His Highness the Ruler of Sharjah, Her Highness Sheikha Jawaher bint Muhammad Al Qasimi, Chairwoman of the Supreme Council for Family Affairs in Sharjah, expressed her pride in the emirate’s latest scientific achievements represented by the opening of Kalba University, considering this step a commitment from the wise leadership to advance science and academic knowledge to nourish vital sectors. In society, there are highly qualified graduates in various specializations, most notably the College of Mathematical Sciences.
Her Highness said: “We congratulate the Emirate of Sharjah for the inauguration by His Highness Sheikh Dr. Sultan bin Muhammad Al Qasimi, Member of the Supreme Council and Ruler of Sharjah, of Kalba University, which will create a distinguished knowledge partnership within a series of higher education institutions in the emirate. This educational institution is the product of a powerful vision that stems from the wisdom of His Highness the Ruler of Sharjah to provide the highest Quality degrees in education and scientific research, which will undoubtedly receive a large share of His Highness’s attention and patronage, to become a beacon of knowledge and solid academic training that prepares pioneering and leadership generations in many specializations.”
Her Highness added: “What the university will offer its students is not just specializations and academic certificates, but rather an integrated system of colleges that prepares its students to develop their skills, enrich their knowledge and abilities, and instill the habit of lifelong learning so that after their graduation, they will be fully prepared to join the process of development in the emirate and serve the community. The university will be distinguished by offering the sports sciences specialization.” It is the specialization that will support the renaissance of the sports sector in the emirate by graduating national energies who leave their distinctive mark in the local sports sector, working hand in hand with the players to advance community sports.”
Her Highness Sheikha Jawaher Al Qasimi referred to the emirate’s long history of embracing knowledge and science and assuming responsibility for its dissemination, saying: “With the opening of this new educational edifice, we stand today in front of Sharjah’s extended journey to spread science and knowledge, starting with the spread of the kataeb at the beginning of the twentieth century, through the Al-Islah School, which was the first facility for formal education. In Sharjah in 1935, until education developed into curricula and educational materials in the 1950s, then girls also joined in drawing from the sources of knowledge when Al Qasimia School opened a class for them. These were classes that educated the souls of their students to love arming themselves with science and knowledge and built their enthusiasm for building the nation and serving society. This is what Sharjah has strengthened for generations. Successively competing in the pursuit of knowledge from school classrooms to university study halls. Our universities not only took on the role of providing students with advanced knowledge, but also provided them with essential opportunities to build a wealth of knowledge and academic and professional experiences worthy of highly qualified fields of work. The University of Sharjah and the American University of Sharjah did not achieve advanced positions. In the rankings of international organizations, it is not for nothing that the knowledge output and competence of the graduates of the two universities prove their status as two of the most prestigious academic institutions in the region.”
Her Highness concluded her statement by saying: “Sharjah has remained, throughout time, a fertile land in which various types of sciences and knowledge grow, and the building of general and specialized culture. Our journey in spreading science is an inspiring story that must be retold across generations so that the sons and daughters of Sharjah continue to complete the journey and advance the name of Sharjah as a home for science and culture.” We are confident that Kalba University will be the factory of persistent leaders and a generation that carries the torch of development in the sports sector in the Emirate of Sharjah.”
