Rides, festival tents and stalls – from Friday, October 18th, the Bürgerweide will be transformed into the venue for the large Bremen Free Market. Bremen’s fifth season opens when fanfares ring out from the town hall’s windows at 2:30 p.m. The large open market for visitors begins at 4 p.m. In addition to the small free market in the city center, tried-and-tested as well as new rides await on the Bürgerweide until the showmen bury the festival with a symbolic coffin on a tour of the free market on Sunday, November 3rd from 8 p.m.
A highlight of the free market takes place on the opening Friday. In the evening at 9.45 p.m. the fireworks will go off over the Bürgerweide. The best view of the fifteen-minute spectacle is from the parking deck between Bürgerpark and Bürgerweide.
What are the opening times?
The Free market on the Bürgerweide is open Sunday to Thursday from 1 p.m. to 11 p.m. and Friday to Saturday from 1 p.m. to midnight. The large tents open earlier on Sundays for breakfast. Admission is from 10.30 a.m. All around Halloween On Wednesday, October 30th and Thursday, October 31st, the large open market will be open from 1 p.m. to midnight.
The Small free market on the market square is open daily from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. and on Sundays from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m.
When is the free market parade?
Those involved celebrate the halfway point of the free market with a traditional parade. On Saturday, October 26th, the festival starts at 12 p.m. and ends at midnight. The foot groups and floats will move from Pappelstrasse in Neustadt through the city center to the Bremen Freimarkt from 10 a.m. The first groups of the caravan are scheduled to arrive at the market square around 11 a.m. The jury awaits the procession in front of the cathedral and looks for the most beautiful walking groups and most creative floats. From Domshof the train leads to Herdentorsteinweg and ends there. The jury chooses the winners in the Bayern tent.

What’s new this year?
Among the approximately 300 showmen there are many tried and tested ones, including 21 pubs, 23
Rides and four major railways. New is the “Nordic Tower”. The ride is a so-called “Starflyer”, with the chain carousel it goes up 80 meters in fast circles. The “Moon Lift” will also be on the open market for the first time. The covered two-person gondolas circle on the ground until they rise and resemble a Ferris wheel. The popular “Commander” is replaced by the “Ghost Rider” with its spinning disk and swinging gondolas.
For the first time this year there will be a beer brewed specifically for the Freimarkt Free market beer. It will be available on the open market as a bottled beer in almost all 21 bars. The Bayernzelt, the Brauhaus and the Tenne offer it fresh from the tap.

Where can visitors park?
There are no parking options directly at the Bremen Freimarkt. The Bürgerweide car park and the trade fair car park are not available during the Freimarkt. According to the organizer, the cheapest offer is the P+R offer. Information signs have been put up. There is an overview of the P+R places here. The organizer recommends that drivers do this Parking spaces at the universitytram line 6 goes to the Freimarkt. The organizer points out that illegal parking in the area around the Freimarkt will be towed away.
Which buses and trams go to the Freimarkt?
The folk festival can be reached with lines 1, 4, 5, 6, 8, 10, 24, 25, 26, 27, 63 and the night lines N1, N3, N4, N5, N7, N9 and N10 (stop Hauptbahnhof). Lines 6, 8 and 24 as well as the night lines N3 and N9 stop at the Blumenthalstraße stop, as do lines 5, 26, 27 and the night line N7 (Messe-Zentrum) and line 25 (Theodor-Heuss-Allee stop).
What to do if I lost something?
If something is lost, the organizers advise you to first ask at the stalls or carousels where you were. You can then contact the market guard. The large tents keep lost property for three days; all other lost property can be picked up from the police station on Bürgerweide within three days. Afterwards, visitors to the free market can contact the lost property office at Stresemannstrasse 48. What is forbidden?
The organizer points out that knives, weapons, glass bottles, pyrotechnic objects, fireworks, dogs, bicycles and e-scooters are prohibited on the site. Wearing clothing bearing badges and emblems of motorcycle groups is also not permitted. The driving surface on the bumper cars may not be used as a dance floor during driving breaks. Violations can be punished with a fine of up to 2,500 euros. The city office attaches great importance to ensuring that free market visitors use the public toilets. Relief behind the tent is not permitted.
