Key modifications. First, the validity of the passport: The current Cuban passport now has a validity of 10 years for those over 16 years of age and 5 years for those under 16 years of age.
Also the elimination of extensions: The obligation to extend the passport every two years was eliminated. Unification of fees: Consular fees were unified into a single resolution, the Consular Tariff.
Payment in USD or EUR: The Cuban consulates abroad will charge in US dollars (USD) or euros (EUR), depending on the region where the person interested in obtaining the Cuban passport is located.
Price of the Cuban passport in 2024
Updated prices: Europe: 180 EUR. United States: 180 USD. Rest of the world: 180 USD (or its equivalent in the country’s official currency). We remember that you may have to pay other fees for additional expenses such as non-face-to-face procedures or through agencies.
This means a significant saving for the Cuban community in the United States, since the Cuban passport had a cost of 350 USD. Also one of the most beneficial measures is the elimination of the mandatory extension every two years for Cubans residing abroad.
Although the passport extension was eliminated, the requirement to extend the stay remains for those Cubans who stay longer than allowed abroad.
The new prices came into effect on August 1, 2023. For Cubans within the island, the passport maintains the price of 2,500 Cuban pesos.
