JAKARTA – Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources Arifin Tasrif signaled subsidized fuel prices such as: Pertalite price and diesel subsidies will increase. Not only fuel, the price of 3 kg LPG will also increase.
Arifin Tasrif assessed that the increase in Pertalite and Solar prices was a strategic step for the government to deal with the impact of rising world crude oil prices.
“In the medium and long term (strategy) price adjustments for Pertalite, diesel oil, and accelerating replacement fuels (electric vehicles, gas fuel, bioethanol, and BioCNG),” he said, Wednesday (13/4/2022).

Meanwhile, there was a suggestion that the price of Pertalite would increase by Rp. 2,000-Rp. 3,000. Currently the price of Pertalite is IDR 7,650 per liter. Pertamina also spoke about the proposed price increase for Pertalite.
“The authority to adjust the price of subsidized fuel lies with the government,” said Acting Corporate Secretary of PT Pertamina Patra Niaga, SH C&T of PT Pertamina (Persero) Irto Ginting to Okayzone in Jakarta.
Irto admitted that his party had not yet received the proposal to increase the price of Pertalite. They are still waiting for directions from the government.
“Try asking the ministry,” he said.
On the other hand, the Executive Director of the ReforMiner Institute, Komaidi Notonegoro, said that it is believed that most people are not ready if the prices of these basic needs increase, such as subsidized fuel to 3 kg LPG.
“When asked whether consumers are ready or not, of course most of them say no, so the government must stand in the middle as a policy maker, looking at all aspects thoroughly before implementing a price increase,” he said in the IDX Channel Market Review.
Furthermore, the structure of Indonesian society in terms of financial capacity is quite complex, there are people who are close to poor, poor, to very poor.
Shifts in the prices of important commodities such as fuel, LPG and electricity will certainly shift the number of people who were close to being poor to become poor and so on.
According to him, the public already understands that some of Indonesia’s energy commodities are imported from abroad. Indonesia ‘only’ can produce oil with a capacity of 700-800 thousand barrels, but domestic demand reaches 1.6 million barrels.
“But if this policy is carried out together, the impact needs to be mitigated. It is necessary to pay attention to what percentage of the target, what macro aspects are affected need to be calculated,” said Komaidi.
