The government stipulates cooking oil price packaging will be adjusted to the economic price. This means that the determination of the highest retail price (HET) for packaged cooking oil of Rp. 14,000 will be revoked and submitted to the market mechanism.
Coordinating Minister for the Economy Airlangga Hartarto said this policy was taken from the results of a limited meeting by observing the development of the situation in the market.
In this case, global uncertainty causes an increase in the price of energy and food supplies which results in a shortage of availability, including the availability of CPO for cooking oil.
“Regarding the price of other packaging, it will adjust the economic value so that it is hoped that palm oil will be available in modern and traditional markets,” said Airlangga, Tuesday (15/3).
In addition, the government will also provide subsidies for bulk cooking oil. However, the highest retail price of bulk cooking oil rose from Rp11,500 to Rp14 thousand per liter.
Meanwhile, he added that the government had held a meeting with cooking oil producers.
The results of the meeting, first, the government asked the producers of cooking oil to immediately distribute cooking oil to the public.
Secondthe minister of trade will publish the Regulation of the Minister of Trade on the Highest Retail Price (HET) which will
effective March 16, 2022.
Third, The National Police Chief will oversee the distribution and availability of bulk cooking oil in the market.
