The coordinator of the PRI bench in the local Congress, Álvaro Ibarra Hinojosa, sent an exhortation to the governor, Jaime Rodríguez Calderón, to define when the next school year will begin, regardless of whether it is in person, online or in a hybrid scheme.
In a statement, the PRI member stressed his respect for the new restrictive measures decreed by State Health in the face of more than 300 daily infections, while, he said, this should not detract from the educational development, or the physical and emotional health of minors.
“An issue as important as education cannot be left in limbo, on the contrary, there must be certainty for mothers and fathers, students and teaching staff to return to classes,” said Ibarra.
The contradictory thing is that, currently, the PRI explained, minors can attend parties, the movies, shopping centers, convenience stores, concerts, sporting events and other places of entertainment, but not their study centers.
“Of course we share the concern of the health authorities and we are all aware that we must take care of ourselves, but that does not justify that the return to school remains in doubt.
“Whether the scheme continues online or in person, or hybrid, that will have to be decided by the authorities in due course, but the beginning of the school year must already be defined and provide security,” he demanded.
He proposed that, just as businesses can operate with capacity and specific sanitary measures, basic-level schools and colleges also do so, as long as they demonstrate that they have a hybrid class scheme, with limited space in classrooms and on a voluntary basis. as they do in high schools and colleges.
“The psychological, emotional, social and educational development of our childhood and youth is at stake, so we urge the state government to be empathetic, it has to set a date to return to classes, and, finally, it will be the parents who determine, voluntarily, if their children attend online or in person, “he added.
Ibarra Hinojosa warned that there are girls, boys and adolescents who have lagged behind due to not having access to technological devices and the internet, which is also a factor that must be taken into account.
So far, María de los Ángeles Errizuris, head of the Ministry of Education, has not defined what the mechanics of the next return to school will be.
