20th Century Studios’ Prey revived the Predator franchise. Now there are first indications that work is being done on the successor “Prey 2”.
How many film fans were very pleased with Dan Trachtenberg’s “Prey”, which was released last year. The film gave the exhausted Predator franchise a new direction while also bringing back the original essence of this great series. In the film, ‘Naru’, a skilled warrior of the Comanche Nation, battled one of the first highly advanced Predators to come to Earth to protect her tribal community. Fortunately, the response to the film was strong enough to keep discussions about the franchise alive. Not only that, the positive feedback that the film received in physical secondary release (DVD, Blu-ray, 4K Blu-ray) shows that the format is actually too large for “digital-only”.
Trachtenberg was open to a sequel from the start

Since the film’s release, Trachtenberg has spoken about plans for a sequel. Perhaps most intriguing is his promise to take another “bold step” if given the opportunity. Now it looks like he’s getting that opportunity. Production Weekly lists Prey 2 as a project in developmentand while it hasn’t been officially announced yet, the extremely positive reaction to the first film suggests that it’s likely to happen.
Prey 2 and new Alien film in 2024
We can only hope that Walt Disney has recognized that such promising film adaptations should not be misused to push a streaming service that may not make a profit for several years. “Prey 2” definitely needs to be in theaters and 2024 might be the perfect time for it. Because a new Alien film is scheduled to be released in cinemas next year. This was originally intended for a digital-only release on Disney+. You have to be lucky that someone overturned this decision again.
