The Laver Cup 2024The seventh edition of the tournament that brings together 12 of the world’s best tennis players every year in a unique format will be held from 20 to 22 September.
The Laver Cup, powered by Roger Federer and inspired by the Ryder Cup golf, every year pits six of the best tennis players in Europe against six of the best rackets from the rest of the world in a tournament that mixes singles and doubles matches.
Europe won the first four editions, but the last two fell to the team from the rest of the world. Can the team from the Old Continent regain the crown on home soil?
The tournament changes venues every year, alternating between a European city and another in the rest of the world, and this year it is being held at the Uber Arena in Berlin, a venue with a capacity of 17,000 spectators.
This edition of the Laver Cup will see the debuts of Carlos Alcaraz y Alexander TabiloThe Spaniard dazzled by winning Roland Garros and Wimbledon, and already has four Grand Slam titles at just 21 years old, but he arrives eager to shake off the disappointment of the US Open.
For his part, Tabilo received the award for the best season of his career, a year in which he won the tournaments in Auckland (he is the first Chilean to win a tournament on hard court since Fernando González in 2007) and Mallorca, but above all he reached the semi-finals of the Rome Masters 1000, defeating along the way Novak Djokovic.
In addition, it will also mean the return of Francisco Cerúndolowho last year was part of the Rest of the World Team that won the tournament for the second time. The Argentine excels on clay, where this year he won the Umag Open and reached the round of 16 at Roland Garros, where he took Djokovic to the fifth set.
On hard court, his best result of the season was the third round of the Indian Wells Masters 1000.
