Preview: FC Nantes faces tough challenge against Ligue 1 powerhouse LOSC this weekend

FC Nantes will technically have little chance of bringing down LOSC this Saturday. Indeed, Lille have been undefeated at home since August 2022 in Ligue 1. Pierrick explains this impressive statistic.

“It’s difficult for all the teams to play LOSC this season, especially at home. Teams fear Paulo Fonseca’s attacking game plan. Most don’t move with big offensive ambitions. They may have been cooled by Monaco’s 4-3 defeat at the Decathlon Arena. The Monegasques had come without real defensive certainties so it had not worked in their favor. »

However, surprisingly, LOSC have already been in difficulty against small teams this season (1-0 defeat against Angers and a 1-1 draw against Auxerre). Pierrick has his opinion on the matter.

“Some people choose their match, that’s obvious. When you see the matches that we are capable of facing PSG (at the Parc des Princes) and at home against big teams like Rennes, Lyon and Marseille, we should never get into trouble against other teams. I am much less confident when LOSC play a so-called “weaker” team on paper. »

Mathematically, LOSC can still be 4th in Ligue 1 and play a better place in Europe. However, the supporter judges that it is difficult to assess their motivation linked to this classification because many have a ticket out at the end of the season.

“I think it’s a collective motivation. It’s important to get back to Europe after a failed season last year. Regarding the players, many are likely to leave like David, André Gomes, Bamba etc. It’s difficult to judge their motivation to grab a European place for the following year. They may want to be competitors and punctuate their time at LOSC with a good mark. Those who are sure to stay, the motivation must be obvious, otherwise you have to change jobs. »

With all these elements, Pierrick managed to imagine a forecast for the meeting. He remains generous towards the people of Nantes.

“I see a tight match between two teams a little tense by the stakes of the meeting. Nantes will not repeat the same performance as last week against Montpellier and we will not be as strong either. Score final : 1-1. »

Supporter of Lille since he was 8 years old, Pierrick Moniot follows the Canaries from afar and gives his outside opinion on FC Nantes this season.

“Besides the Blas affair, I did not think that FC Nantes was going to end up in this place. It may not be as dramatic as one might think. Even if Nantes is a historic club, if there is a descent, it may be an opportunity to clean up the club. We must follow the Toulouse model with the renaissance. We still hope for Nantes, a maintenance at the last day. »
