REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, YOGYAKARTA — The Yogyakarta City Health Service (Dinkes) asks the public not to panic regarding mysterious pneumonia which has been found in DKI Jakarta. However, it is emphasized that people should be aware of diseases caused by bacteria mycoplasmawhich can cause respiratory infections.
“The public, especially in the city of Yogyakarta, does not need to panic excessively, the important thing is that we are always alert because this is a respiratory tract infection,” said Head of Disease Control Prevention and Data Management and Health Information Systems, Yogyakarta City Health Office, Lana Unwanah.
He said that this disease attacks many children. For this reason, preventive measures need to be made so that this disease does not attack vulnerable groups, such as children.
According to him, preventive measures that can be taken are preventive. Starting from using a mask considering that this disease can be transmitted through droplets, maintaining clean and healthy living habits (PHBS), to increasing body endurance.
“Including balanced nutritious food, taking vitamins may also be necessary, getting enough rest, and of course maintaining PHBS,” said Lana.
It was stated that it had not been found in Yogyakarta City pneumonia this mystery, although there have been reported cases of mild pneumonia. Mild cases of pneumonia do not require hospitalization at a health service facility (fasyankes).
“There are several causes of pneumonia, including bacterial infections, viral infections, and fungal infections,” he explained.
Regarding cases of mysterious pneumonia that have increased in China, this has occurred significantly in the last two months, namely in October and November 2023. Even so, Lana emphasized that people should not panic because the fatality rate is lower than Covid-19.
“In China there has been a significant increase in cases of pneumonia in children, both outpatients and inpatients. But experts said it was later discovered that the cause was a bacteria called mycoplasma“It turns out that the fatality rate is much lower than Covid-19,” said Lana.
