Mexico City. A federal judge based in the South prison of Mexico City, issued justified preventive detention against Zhi Dong, a Chinese citizen, considered by the United States government, a major trafficker of fentanyl and other drugs, who operated for the Sinaloa and Jalisco Nueva Generación (CJG) cartels, and who was arrested yesterday in the Santa Fe area, in the Cuajimalpa Mayor’s Office.
The Attorney General’s Office (FGR), through the Special Prosecutor’s Office for International Affairs (FEAIN), specified the preventive detention, as part of the extradition process that will be carried out in Mexico at the request of the United States government against Zhi Dong. .
The citizen of Chinese origin was arrested as a result of coordinated work between the Secretariats of Security and Citizen Protection (SSPC), the Mexican Navy (Semar), the National Defense (Sedena) and the Attorney General’s Office of the Republic ( FGR).
Zhi Dong was requested for extradition for his probable responsibility in the crimes of criminal association, against health and operations with resources of illicit origin, since he is required by the Federal Court for the Eastern District of New York and the Federal Court of the Northern District of Georgia, in the United States.
The detainee “is considered the alleged leader of a criminal organization dedicated to drug trafficking and money laundering in the United States and likely responsible for trafficking large quantities of cocaine, fentanyl and methamphetamine from Mexico to that country, for distribution and sending the proceeds. of drug sales to Mexico,” reported the FGR.
After his arrest, Zhi Dong was presented before the Judge and at a formal detention hearing for the purposes of extradition, and his formal detention was ordered and the precautionary measure of justified preventive detention was imposed, for which he will remain in the South Men’s Preventive Prison .
