This Sunday, July 2, the police will be able to use drones to capture and record images of any riots. This measure will apply in Paris, all of Seine-Saint-Denis and in certain municipalities of Hauts-de-Seine. Buses and trams will stop running from 9 p.m. Several cities will enforce a curfew. Update on prevention measures in the region.
Drones will no doubt be observable in the Parisian sky on July 2. The Paris police headquarters announces that a prefectural decree authorizes it to use them. These can be used to capture and record images of the riots which could take place six days after the death of Nahel, a 17-year-old boy killed by police fire.
The measure will come into force this Sunday, July 2, from 6 p.m. in Paris, in Seine-Saint-Denis and in certain municipalities of Hauts-de-Seine. It will be maintained until the following day, 6 hours.
Like the preventive measures taken since Friday June 29 in Île-de-France, public transport (bus and tram) will be stopped from 9 p.m. Since the beginning of the riots, bus depots like that of Aubervilliers have been targeted by attacks. This Sunday, bus line 159 and tram T5 which connects Saint-Denis to Sarcelles are still at a standstill. A T6 train in Clamart was notably destroyed during these riots. A total of 15 buses were destroyed by arson.
Many curfews will be observed in several Ile-de-France municipalities. This is the case in Clamart in the Hauts-de-Seine which was the first town in the region to introduce the measure. Other cities such as Chilly-Mazarin (Essonne) or Levallois-Perret (Hauts-de-Seine) apply it in certain streets, according to our colleagues from Parisian.
