BEKASI, KOMPAS.com – Office of Public Health City of Bekasi will award 16,560 condoms or contraceptives to hospitals and health centers City of Bekasi registered as an HIV / AIDS treatment support service (PDP).

The head of the health office of the city of Bekasi, Tanti Rohilawati, explained that the assignment of condoms was one of the steps to prevent the spread of HIV / AIDS.

“The purpose of giving this condom is to prevent transmission of HIV / AIDS to partners or cohort partners, one of whom is HIV / AIDS positive,” Tanti said in her statement on Friday (9/16 / 2022).

Tanti said this step was considered to reduce the risk of spreading HIV / AIDS by up to 95%.

However, Tanti still urges the public to remain vigilant and pay attention to condoms when having sex. Therefore, using the wrong condom is also a risk in the spread of HIV / AIDS.

“Transmission of HIV / AIDS can still occur even if condoms are still used. This is due to misuse, leaking condoms and improper storage,” he said.

The Bekasi City Health Bureau noted that there were 554 HIV / AIDS cases in 2022.

Launching the latest data from the Bekasi city government, 554 HIV / AIDS cases in the city of Bekasi are dominated by residents aged 25 to 49.

There were 375 residents between the ages of 25 and 49 who were exposed to HIV / AIDS. Then, there were 113 HIV / AIDS cases among residents aged 20-24.

Meanwhile, people with HIV / AIDS (PLWHA) over the age of 50 or older are third with 44 cases.

In addition, there are 14 people who are exposed to the 15-19 age group and 4 people are exposed to the under 4 age group.
