REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, TASIKMALAYA — The Tasikmalaya City Health Service is starting to anticipate the spread of cases of monkey pox or monkeypox. One of the precautions taken is to prepare a special room for handling cases of monkey pox in Dr Soekardjo Regional Hospital Tasikmalaya City.

Head of the Disease Prevention and Control Division of the Tasikmalaya City Health Service, Asep Hendra, said that his party had received a circular regarding increasing awareness of monkey pox cases from the West Java (Jabar) Provincial Health Service. This circular letter has also been followed up by sending similar letters to all health facilities in Tasikmalaya City.

“When there is a case similar to chicken pox in an adult, we will immediately make it a suspect with monkey pox. We will take samples and other things, until it emerges that it is not monkey pox,” he said when confirmed by Republika, Friday (3/11/2023).

Asep said that to date no cases of monkey pox have been found in Tasikmalaya City. There are still no suspected cases of monkey pox.

Even so, he added, his party had coordinated with Dr. Soekardjo Regional Hospital to take precautions. Dr Soekardjo Hospital management is also said to have prepared steps to be taken when there is a case.

“Even today we have prepared the necessary things when there is a case of monkey pox. Don’t let us get excited after there is a case,” said Asep.

He said that a number of things that had been prepared were a negative pressure isolation room for treating monkey pox patients. Currently, there are a number of isolation rooms at Dr Soekardjo Regional Hospital.

“We were on standby at the government-owned hospital first. Because the handling of monkey pox is currently being centralized at the government-owned hospital,” he said.

Apart from that, Asep also reminded the public to be more alert regarding cases of monkey pox. When symptoms such as smallpox appear, people are asked to immediately go to the nearest health facility.
