REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA — The Mataram City Health Service, West Nusa Tenggara Province, asks residents to adopt a clean and healthy lifestyle (PHBS) as a measure to anticipate the spread of the monkey pox virus (monkeypox). Head of the Mataram City Health Service, Dr. H Usman Hadi, said that prevention efforts such as when Covid-19 broke out needed to be re-implemented to avoid various potential transmissions of dangerous viruses.

“Such as using a mask and washing our hands after doing activities and interacting with many people can protect us from various viruses,” he said, Thursday (16/11/2023).

According to him, this is the case so far monkey pox It has not been found in Mataram City, but prevention is better than cure. “Moreover, the monkey defect virus vaccine is limited and the price is quite expensive. So, it is better for us to prevent it by implementing PHBS,” he said.

Secretary of the Mataram City Health Office, Dr. H Emirald Isfihan, said that various anticipatory steps that the public can take to avoid the monkey pox virus include adopting a healthy lifestyle by getting enough rest, drinking lots of water, eating nutritious food, and doing regular exercise. “A healthy lifestyle is the key to maintaining immunity. Good immunity can ward off disease, especially infectious diseases,” he said.

Apart from that, he said, if you experience symptoms such as headache, fever, muscle aches, back pain, etc., immediately check yourself with a doctor or the nearest health facility (faskes). The reason is, with proper and fast treatment, monkey defects will heal on their own within 2-4 weeks, sometimes even 3 weeks, just like chicken pox.

“How quickly monkeypox heals also depends on each person’s immunity,” he said.
